Meet Our Local Team Members!
Keeping the Focus on You Since 1986
Helmus Optometry was founded on the simple philosophy of Dr. Mark Helmus: "Do what’s right for the patient." This principle has kept our compassionate team of eye doctors, opticians, and optical staff focused on providing the highest quality eye care for nearly 40 years. Today, Dr. Julie Helmus continues her parents’ legacy as a second-generation optometrist. She is passionate and attentive to every aspect of her family practice: her friendly and competent team, the advanced diagnostic equipment, clinic flow, frame and contact lens choices, and “patient first” ethic.
Our Doctors and Friendly Optical Team
We respect your time. We understand you have a busy schedule, and we will make your eye exam worth your while. Our team-based approach to eye care is efficient and we strive for smooth transitions from pre-testing to the exam room to the optical gallery. We don’t take shortcuts; you'll get plenty of time with your eye doctor and opticians. We'll take our time to review your overall health history, evaluate all aspects of your ocular health, order and review the necessary imaging and diagnostic testing, and answer all your questions. Finally, you’ll have a blast shopping for frames with a dedicated frame stylist.
Giving Back to the Community We Call Home
The friendly faces that run Helmus Optometry, including Dr. Julie Helmus, are more than your local eye care experts. We’re your friends and neighbors, and we care deeply about our Davis community. Dr. Julie Helmus, a local graduate of Cesar Chavez, Emerson and Davis Senior High School, lives and raises her two children in Davis. Her parents, Drs. Mark and Joann Helmus, set the standard in many ways, including: starting an adult soccer league, coaching numerous sports teams, volunteering on various Boards, and donating to local schools and community organizations. Dr. Joann and Dr. Julie have traveled to Mexico with the Lions in Sight three times to provide eye care, and Dr. Julie has more mission trips on the horizon 2024 and beyond! We aim to enrich the lives of those around us and foster a stronger, more connected community.
